Overview

Introduction:
Boutique management system project is a simple software application designed by considering issues in existing manual methods used in boutiques. This software is useful for
managing customer details, products listings, and adding, deleting and updating existing details from database.

Objective:
The main objective of the project is to design and develop a user friendly system.
  • Easy to use and efficient computerized system.
  • To develop an accurate and flexible system, it will eliminate data redundancy.
  • Computerization can be helpful as means of saving time & money.
  • Provide better graphical user interface.
  • Less chances of information leakage.
  • Provides security to data by using login & password.

About Existing System

To maintain different databases, garment manufacturing companies use the following systems:
  • Paper based
  • MS-Excel
  • VB software
These systems have following problems:
  • High Cost
  • Fewer amounts of data
  • Not reliable
  • Need large space and time

Drawbacks of Existing System

  1. It is manual and time consuming
  2. It utilizes a large amount of space for customer and supplier transaction information in paper files
  3. Some time manual calculation may be incorrect thus, leading to the incorrect information
  4. A large amount of data cannot be viewed at a glance
  5. No reminder for customer
  6. Some time the calculation has to be done manually so it requires a lot of work
  7. Updating is not performed that efficiently and may lead complications
  8. No security as data can be misplaced or damaged
  9. Lastly, it was not offers a user friendly work environment

Need For New System

 Working with current system is quite tedious, complicated and time consuming task. It may lead errors certain operations such as surfing searching, adding, removing, entries cannot be done efficiently. Maintaining different registers for various activities such as storing and searching data which is tedious and time consuming task. Generating reports, bills are much tedious task with new system. Hence the organization needs new system with enhanced features. Features such as automatic report generation, bill generation, computing complicated calculations, performing operations such as adding, deleting, updating and searching etc. System should be user friendly.

Proposed System

We hereby are grateful to present our software project through this report. Our proposed system is compute based. Which provide various User interfaces (Forms) for various operations and hence interactive.
The proposed system is implemented using C# and SQL to reduce the cost and to increase the reliability. In this system we combine all modulus together to reduce the space and time complexity. This system can store large amount of data in a more efficient way. Our aim of introducing this system is to overcome all the drawbacks of the existing system. The proposed system is fully computerized. It can be access any where inside the organization. In short proposed system is user-friendly.

Features of new system

GUI: The proposed system provides better graphical user interface
Search: Searching details about customer, supplier, employee, Parcel is comparatively easy.
Increase work speed: Due to automation of some part of system work speed would increase
Less paperwork: For the proposed system less paperwork is required
Reduces error: Due to computerization there are less possibilities of error
Economical: Due to minimal errors and work delay proposed system can be economically beneficial to the company.

PROJECT CATEGORY

This project as title “Boutique management system” is comes under the Relational Database Management System (RDBMS). This application is developed with the help of C# and SQL Server. This application can also be run on the network environment so it can be said as network application.

TOOLS/PLATFORM

 This project is developed using the tools, which are most suited for development of the
Application Package. These tools are as follows: -
  1. C# (For front end)
  2. SQL Server (For Database Storage as Back end)

SYSTEM DESIGN

 System Design is the solution to the creation of a new system. This is the important aspect made up of several steps. The complete, efficient and successful system should provide the following in succession:
  • From where should we start
  • Where we have to go
  • Where should we stop
If the project is to be successful, we will need answer this question. The answer of these questions is schema manner and is known as system design.
A systematic manner will be followed so as to achieve beneficial result at the end. It involves starting with a vague idea and ultimately developing it up into a useful system. The design phase is transition from a user oriented to a document oriented to the programmers.
Software report can be broken into a series of steps starting with the basic ideas and ending with the finished project.
The steps for the successful project are as follows:
We should define problem completely and the goals should be known before our destination. In the next step, we should specify inputs and outputs of our interest
Then the structure of various database should be designed which will be used during the
programming. Next, we should design our programs of user friendly nature and always provide a way to the user to read back the origin if he/she find any complex problem at any stage We should know the function of each and every program which will leads us to or helps us to read at the specified goal.
Then we write these individual programs which later on joining solve our problem
Next step involve then testing of these programs and correction – if necessary
At last, linking all the programs in a well-specified manner and combining in the form of a menu, submenu etc. will be our defined problem.
Out of these defined steps, few of the major steps will respect to Project.
Scope:
  • Storing information of customers and products
  • Check validity of information provided by user
  • Viewing information of customers and products
  • Update and delete customer and product details
  • Searching details of customer and product
  • Generating various reports based on your preference (daily, weekly, monthly or yearly).
The purpose of this system is to implement the computerization of the clothes inventory and sales etc. This uses the SQL database and substitution encryption/decryption technique to hide passwords of users.
Requirements Summary
The following preliminary lists are based on initial interviews.
Business Requirements
The business goal for the application is to manage the entire product and customer related details and reports.
Business requirements with the following additional details:
  • User needs a method to save customer details and product details.
  • User needs a method to check the validity of information provided by them.
  • User must generate reports of all customers and products.
  • User needs a method to search the details of customers and products.
  • Admin must generate billing reports and invoices.
  • The application should support the capability to use multi user environment.

User Requirements

User requirements are categorized by user type.
User
  • Save customer, and product details
  • View all the customer and product details
  • Search the customer and product detail by using the advanced search option
  • Update or modify the customer and product details
Admin
 This module will take up transactions like selling products, buying products from supplier updating cash and updating the bills .Appropriate actions will be taken.
  • This is a client program which will request for reports.

Operational Requirements

The following requirements provide a high-level view of how the system will run:
  • Processor usage should not exceed 80 percent during concurrent uses.
  • Backups will occur incrementally throughout the day.
  • A full weekly backup is required to WORM drives.
  • Ensure that information is easy to access either, and meaningful for the user and the company.
  • Minimize the technical knowledge that user need to save customer and product details and generate reports accordingly.

System Requirements

These are additional constraints from a system perspective:
  • Previous details related to all customers and products must be imported in the new system.
  • The administrator must be able to monitor everything from the IT department.
  • The information must be accessible by everyone in the company as per the rights specify.

Success Criteria

To determine the success of this project, the following metrics can be quantified and used to analyze success factors.
